Picking Up a New Car in Bangalore? Protect It Before the Drive Home

A new car's paint is at its best exactly once: on delivery day. It needs the least correction, it has no chips, and nothing has been sealed in yet. Most owners book protection days or weeks later, after the first commutes and washes. The general case is in our day-zero PPF guide; this post is about planning it around the handover itself.

• Pre-delivery prep: the delivery wash and polish is done in busy wash bays, so fine swirl marks are common before you take the keys.
• The drive itself: any city drive means loose gravel, road dust and stop-and-go traffic close to other vehicles.
• The first wash at home: a well-meaning wash with the wrong cloth, or an automatic brush wash, adds to any swirls already there.

None of this is unusual. It's what happens to any unprotected car in a normal city commute. The only question is whether it happens before or after protection.

• Best case, protect before the first drive: if your dealer's timeline allows, the car comes from the showroom to the studio before its first real drive, and PPF goes on over paint that has never seen a road.
• Next best, protect the same day: book a studio slot for delivery day, drive straight to us, and get correction plus film before the car does a single commute unprotected.
• What to skip: a wash-and-wax at home before the studio visit. It adds handling and swirl risk for no benefit, since we correct the paint anyway.

A few minutes at handover help later: check whether the pre-delivery inspection sheet notes any existing marks, ask what wash product and method was used for delivery prep, and ask exactly what any offered "protective coating" is. If it doesn't name a specific product and warranty, it is usually a thin sealant rather than PPF, and it shouldn't stop you getting real film applied.
